The NSW government has announced plans to legislate recommendations made following a review into the scandal-ridden state insurance agency icare.

A consultation will consider how workers’ compensation and CTP schemes serve food delivery riders for services like Uber and Deliveroo.

The inquiry on Monday heard that Nagle’s wife had received $750 a day to train icare staff between 2016 and 2019. She was awarded the contract without a tender.

Chris McCann was ‘constantly warned’ not to disclose his concerns to the State Insurance Regulatory Authority, despite him having ‘evidence of theft, fraud, corruption, conflicts and other activities’ occurring within the agency.

The news comes days after board member Mark Lennon resigned, and a week after a number of allegations regarding icare and its workers’ compensation scheme were aired.
