The federal government used grants from a sports infrastructure program to target key electorates in the months leading up to the election, the Australian National Audit Office has found. The audit report released on Wednesday noted 684 grants totalling $100 million were awarded by then-sports minister — now agriculture minister — Bridget McKenzie in three rounds between December 2018 and April 2019.
