Lucy Turnbull believes Canberra’s green streets, boulevards, and wide footpaths have adapted well to growing urban density over the years – remaining a great city for walkability and liveability, just as its original planners intended.
According to the former chief commissioner of the Greater Sydney Commission, across the inner-southern areas of the ACT and within the parliamentary triangle, urban spaces have preserved qualities that support a good way of life. But doing so has been no mean feat.
“I think Canberra is one of our most walkable and liveable cities — I’m a bit partial to Sydney too, I have to say,” Ms Turnbull said.
