The Digital Transformation Agency has inked a whole-of-government deal with software company Oracle to make it easier for federal, state and territory government agencies to buy their products and services, including cloud services.
This “coordinated approach to digital sourcing” will deliver cost savings and improve government flexibility by making it easier for agencies to buy technology, drive innovation and get more value out of their investments, the DTA said on Friday.
Oracle noted the arrangement spans its entire hardware, software, cloud and services offerings.
“This includes integrated applications for sales, service, marketing, human resources, finance, supply chain and manufacturing, plus highly automated and secure cloud infrastructure featuring the Oracle Autonomous Database,” it said.
While the arrangement must be used by non-corporate commonwealth entities when they buy Oracle products and services, corporate commonwealth entities and state and territory governments can choose to opt into the arrangement.
Transition arrangements have also been established for non-corporate commonwealth entities that have existing contracts, the DTA said.
“We’ll work with those entities closer to the end of their support term or as needed. All new contracts must be made under the new arrangement,” it said.

The deal will give agencies access to competitive pricing, and comprehensive terms and conditions to deliver front and back office digital transformation, according to Oracle vice president and regional managing director ANZ Cherie Ryan.
“This arrangement with the DTA builds on our already strong partnership with Australian federal government and is set to make it easier for government agencies to move to the next stage of their digitally enabled whole-of-government transformations,” she said.
“It comes at a time when Oracle continues to invest in the Australian market, including the recent openings of our Melbourne and Sydney second-generation cloud regions which offer public sector customers a secure, local and future ready migration path to the cloud.”
The deal is part of the federal government’s ICT Coordinated Procurement Arrangements. Agencies can access information about the Oracle arrangement via the DTA’s ICT Procurement Portal.
