Britons ordered to stay home

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has sent Britain into lockdown for at least three weeks, saying all non-essential shops will close and gatherings of more than two people will be banned.

Police have been given powers to enforce the strict new rules aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19.

Britons can now only leave their homes once a day for exercise, to shop for essential items, for medical needs, or to help someone else deemed to be vulnerable.
