An appeal against a decision to pause disciplinary action against an auditor will soon be heard in the Federal Court of Australia, according to the Company Auditors’ Disciplinary Board annual report released this week.

The foreword in the report by CADB chair Maria McCrossin says an unnamed auditor successfully had an application to stay the proceedings of the disciplinary board in December 2022.

Disciplinary board members hear cases when the Australian Securities and Investments Commission or the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority believes there are grounds for an auditor to be disciplined based on problems found with audit work.
