When it comes to finding a way forward, ‘never say never’ could soon be the new mission statement of the technologically-challenged Australian Public Service Commission when it comes to recruiting anyone other than lawyers and clerks into the ranks of the permanently frank and fearless.

In a move that resembles the bureaucratic version of the ‘Formidable Face Pose’ (Ganda Bherundasana), the latest communique of the all-prescient and powerful secretaries board reveals that the highly contentious issue of “Specialists Arrangements in the APS” is back on the agenda of the high table of the bureaucratic tree (Botanicus Orgchartis) after specialists spent a year on the outer.
