A mere glance across publicly available records shows that new secretary of the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, Jim Betts, will be a force to be reckoned with in his new role.

Betts has held senior public service positions in New South Wales and his knowledge in areas of infrastructure and development is deep. Any assessment of his pedigree solely on the basis of his removal by Dominic Perrottet as head of the Department of Premier and Cabinet shortly after the latter’s appointment as NSW premier would be a mistake.
