The first priority of the Organising Committee Board for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (OCOG) at its inaugural board meeting on 27 April is to recruit a chief executive officer.
Brisbane 2032 OCOG president Andrew Liveris expressed his enthusiasm for helping the Queensland capital host the games and his commitment to doing so in a cost-neutral manner towards the tax-payer.
“People should expect that in these early years we will be planning, listening and learning from our colleagues on other Games. It is through this strategic thinking that we can coordinate the delivery program most effectively to set us up for success in 2032,” said Liveris.
Ex-CEO of chemical company Dow Chemical, Liveris named finding a CEO as a ‘top priority’.
“This group will deliver the biggest sporting event in the world right here in Brisbane and it’s going to be a huge task to ensure our city is ready to be showcased to a global audience,” said Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner, who is also on the board.
The OGOG consists of 21 members, including Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, vice president of the International Olympic Committee and AOC president John Coates, and president of Paralymics Australia Jock O’Callaghan.
