The NSW government’s graduate program is the most sought-after public sector program in Australia, and the second most applied for of the nation’s programs overall.
The program has received recognition in the Australian Financial Review’s top graduate employers of 2022, coming second only to ANZ Bank.
The figure is based on a percentage of nearly 69,000 unique users of website GradConnection who applied for jobs at each employer.
The program employed 176 graduates in 2022, a rise compared with the 150 people to receive a role in 2021.
The AFR also reported last week NSW grads were earning salaries worth $80,516.
The top graduate employers list also recognised the Australian Government Graduate Program as the third-most popular government graduate program in Australia.
The program ranked 32nd among the top 100.
The Australian Public Service Commission welcomed the sector’s recognition on the charts.
“This achievement says so much about the quality of the program and the experience our grads get,” the statement said.
It said the federal program invested in graduates to develop their careers and provide challenging experiences to grow skills.
“It provides graduates support, flexibility, and work-life balance to help them find their fit and reach their potential.”
The program is offering more than 500 positions in 2023 across 53 participating agencies.
