It’s rare to find good policy process within the Morrison government, but on Closing The Gap it has laid the groundwork for what will hopefully be a substantial acceleration in efforts to improve health, education and carceral outcomes for Indigenous Australians over the second decade of the strategy.
The ‘refresh’ of the Closing The Gap process — which yielded very limited success in its first decade — was unveiled last year in the National Agreement on Closing the Gap, with an Implementation Plan emerging a fortnight ago.
