Politicians and public servants are among the workers least negatively affected by the pandemic and associated lockdowns.

Their employment is secure — unlike the millions of workers facing stand-downs or worried about possible closure of the business in which they work or in the gig economy or in other forms of insecure work.

Not only that, but the nature of public service work is such that often it can be performed easily remotely from home, and relationships with colleagues or collaborators can be maintained.

They also have greater freedom of movement in their working lives.
