Digital conduct recommended for security clearance vetting

Considering the online conduct of individuals will be critical when governments consider granting security clearances to new recruits, according to a recent report by the influential think tank Rand Corporation.

A Rand report titled Updating Personnel Vetting And Security Clearance Guidelines For Future Generations observes that the online environment has opened the door to new risks of financial indebtedness and foreign influence for young professionals seeking to get security clearances from government.

It recommends that processes that assess the suitability of individuals to hold security clearances incorporate digital personal conduct an issue for review.
