How the UK returned to soft lockdown

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a series of new restrictions on Tuesday, citing the fact that the average daily case rate in the UK had jumped from roughly a thousand in mid August to 3,929, and, according to the country’s top medical and scientific officials, could hit a 50,000 by mid-October if a current doubling rate holds.
