Departments still lacking on cyber security compliance

The ASD says that even just implementing the Top Four cyber security control strategies, let alone the Essential Eight, can stop 85% of cyber attacks. It’s a shame three-quarters of agencies haven’t implemented them, writes Bernard Keane.

In its recent Annual Cyber Threat Report for 2019-20, the Australian Cyber Security Centre expressed its frustration with the failure of many businesses to embrace effective cybersecurity — in particular, the ‘Essential Eight‘ mitigation strategies devised by the Australian Signals Directorate that form the basis of the Commonwealth’s security ‘baseline’.
