The APS needs to radically and quickly overhaul what 'service delivery' means to them. That should start with genuinely listening to their front-line people

VERONA BURGESS: THE OBSERVER It’s time to challenge the attitude that policy is the apex of public administration and service delivery is done by lesser mortals. With change and uncertainty all around the federal bureaucracy, to fulfil the Prime Minister’s expectations it will need to quickly learn from state counterparts.

Unbeknownst to a generally uncaring public, the Australian Public Service is at quite a pivotal moment.

The overriding message from Prime Minister Scott Morrison is that the APS shouldn’t be worrying about policy but should be focussing its efforts on service delivery.
