The Public Service Research Group will launch Issues Paper no 3: Co-production and innovation – creating better solutions for future public service implementation.
Co-production is considered to be an essential element in the successful design and delivery of contemporary public services globally because it is thought to offer opportunities for users to gain empowerment. As a result, in a context of increased calls for innovation, it seems likely that there would be a relationship between the capacity of an organisation to co-produce and the levels of innovation is creates.
In this event an issues paper developed by the Public Service Research Group at UNSW Canberra will be presented that discusses different forms of co-production and why there needs to be a more service integrated, systems approach if innovation is to really emerge and be sustained.
A panel comprised of Petr Adamek the CEO of the Canberra Innovation Network, Deborah Blackman from UNSW Canberra, Jane Gunn from KPMG and Nina Terrey from ThinkPlace will discuss the relationship between systems focused co-production and innovation, considering the implications for both public service implementation and the development of the public servants who will be required to support it.
